Mount Emei (Chinese: 峨嵋山) in Shichuan province, China is one of the five sacred mountains in China. It is 3099M above the sea level.

The patron Bodhisattva of Emei is Samantabhadra, known in Chinese as Puxian (普贤菩萨). 16th and 17th century sources allude to the practice of martial arts in the monasteries of Mount Emei and make the earliest extant reference to the Shaolin Monastery as Chinese boxing's place of origin.

Mount Emei was made a World Heritage Site in 1996 by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization.

1. Air pollution

At the beginning of January 2013, thick clouds of dust covered large areas of north east China. Four provinces were affected at the time. including Beijing, and the heavy dust spread to 25 provinces in China along the east coast and northern region in the following months. Some days the PM 2.5 (particulate matter) reading reached 40 times higher than international air quality standards. Some experts warn that the severity of such air pollution is more dangerous than the SARS epidemic in 2003.  On the last day of 2013, the average reading of PM2.5 in Chinese cities was still around 155 to 215, which is about 10 times the reading in Sydney, Australia.

2. Shen Yun Performing Arts

An elite Chinese cultural performing company based in the U.S. sent out 3 troupes with live orchestras to tour the world for 5 months, with 314 performances in 18 countries, with 90% full houses! Audiences included film directors, famous composers, members of European Royal families, doctors and business leaders, etc. from around the world. The success of the show lies in its authenticity; presenting the true and splendid Chinese culture that had never before been presented to the world. An astounding spiritual rejuvenation was experienced by many audiences, the colours and costumes left many professional artists in awe; the orchestras include both Chinese and western instruments to bring the original Shen Yun music to life, and the scenery and backdrops are innovative and awe-inspiring!

Chinese people were extremely moved to see that Chinese culture, once so glorious and harmonious, has resonated with audiences around the world. Many Chinese traveled outside of China especially to see the shows.

The 2014 tours of Shen Yun performing Arts have already kicked off on Christmas Eve in North America. Prominent U.S.Senator, Newt Gingrich attended with his whole family, and said that many of his friends are expecting to see the show in Washington very soon.

3. Bo Xilai’s sentence and the cover-up

The dramatic performance of Bo Xilai, in court entertained Chinese people for quite a few months, and ended with a sentence of life in jail.

But Chinese are asking why is the new leader of China, and the politburo hiding Bo's many crimes? There is much more drama to come in 2014.

4. Slogans of "Down with the CCP" shouted in public and the trend of quitting the CCP

Hundreds of thousands of Chinese people have been continuously fighting for justice in China, the appeals this year escalating to a higher level, with many Chinese shouting the slogans: “Down with Chinese Communist Party (CCP)! Down with Dictatorship! We deserve freedom and justice.”
Shouting these slogans would inevitably attract a death sentence during Mao Zedong’s era. It would meet a similar fate in Sichuan province before Bo Xilai was ousted, however, it is becoming increasingly difficult for the CCP to control the widespread outpourings against the party's corruption and its suppression of the Chinese people.

Wang  Wenxun has been arrested many times when speaking out for justice and human rights.

In fact, more and more Chinese are shouting “Down with the communist party!” in public, when they protest in front of the government buildings. Ms Hong Linlin from Shanghai, did so in Tiananmen Square in March 2013; a group of Shanghai residents also shouted this slogan in front of the Shanghai High Court when Yang Jia, was sentenced to death.  Hundred of messages of praise and support were posted by bloggers after this news was reported.

The vital element that has helped to trigger such outspoken rebellion is the wide spreading of a banned essay, Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party, published by Dajiyuan, the independent Chinese news media, which exposes the true history of the CCP and its killing of more than 80 million of its own citizens to maintain its power. Along with publishing the essay, Dajiyuan also runs a section on their website, called “Quit the Chinese Communist Party”, which allows readers to post an online declaration of quitting the CCP. Since the publishing of the Nine Commentaries in Nov 2004, 150 million Chinese have quit the communist party and its related youth organizations. Here is a example post received on 30th Dec. 2013:

A declaration posted online from Shanghai China, on Dajiyuan website:

(I am) a Christian, grown up under proper guidance from Heavenly God, never joined any groups related with the communist cult. (I believe) in following my God to receive the truth. But the Chinese Communist cult party locked up my priest; beating our Father; destroyed our sacred church; denounce my belief! I firmly declare that I will never ever have any dealings with any organizations related to the communist cult. I support all my fellow citizens who are willing to take their vow to quit (ccp).

5. U.S. government closes down for 15 days

The U.S. government virtually closed down for 15 days, during the fiscal standoff, with 80,000 employees receiving no pay… but America still exists, Americans still live a normal life. It is a luxury for Chinese people to dream about: to live normally without harassment and restriction from the communist government. The closing doors of government in America probably had more effect on Chinese people than on Americans, even though, the Chinese did experience 20 days without government before the June 4th Massacre in Tiananmen Square.

6. 6 year old boy’s eyes stolen!

The news that a 6 year old boy’s eyes were removed by organ harvesters, after he was missing for 2 hours, brought a new level of fear to Chinese parents. Despite media reports and condemnation of the crime, 2 similar cases were disclosed in China within 3 weeks.

What most media are still frightened to mention is: Organ harvesting (or organ robbery) from live Falun Gong practitioners in China, a systematic business process run by Bo Xilai and Gu Kailai, under the protection of Zhou Yongkang and Jiang Zemin. Commentator, Ethan Gutmann estimates that approximately 65,000 Falun Gong adherents may have been killed for their organs from 2000 to 2008. The “killing business” became so famous that many western people who were in need of transplant of vital organs become customers to buy those stolen organs.  It became a “thriving business” that nearly every major hospital in large cities of China are involved in. Chinese have learnt that under the current political system, the “sale” of organs, such as kidneys corneas, etc. is acceptable in China. Chinese doctors accept human organs for business without questioning the source of the organ.

Doctors Against Forced Organ Harvesting (DAFOH) was set up after the disclosure of the Chinese regime's killing of Chinese Falun Gong practitioners for their organs.

7. Gary Locke announced his resignation as U.S. Ambassador to China

Gary Locke's normal behaviour and actions in China won the heart of Chinese people, and confirmed to Chinese people that every human being is entitled to human rights and dignity, which Chinese people have not experienced since the communists took power in China. Chinese are brain washed to accept that only the Chinese Communist Party has the right to govern.

8. North Korea, Kim Jong-un executes uncle, his right hand man

Jang Song Thaek, the uncle of Kim Jong-un had close ties with the Chinese communist regime, and was the main person handling the relationship and dialogue with China.

It is not uncommon for Chinese to hear that communist political leaders kill their relatives, but Jang was the only senior member of Kim’s family remaining in the North Korean power center, while Kim Jong-un is in such an isolated position, internationally and internally. Killing his own uncle, seems to be a very unusual and desperate move.

9. Zhou Yongkang, the coup master mind killer in China, finally ‘formally detained’

As the information of his failed coup in Beijing can now be found in google searches inside China. Zhou Yongkang’s present wife, his son Zhou Bing, and about a dozen high officials related to Zhou’s money making empire were all arrested.

Zhou Yongkang has two sons, but the second son, Zhou Han had cut-off his relationship with his father permanently after his mother was murdered, knowing that his father, had organized the killing of his mother. So Zhou Bin is the only son officially mentioned by Beijing.

10. Li Dongshen, the head of 610 office, arrested

On Dec, 12. 2103, the European Parliament Passed a Resolution against China's forced organ harvesting, just a few days before the head of the 610 office ( a gestapo-like office set up to oversee the persecution of Falun Gong), Li Dongsheng, was arrested. Li was the right hand man of Zhou Yongkang, who was running the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners and organ harvesting business of Bo Xilai and his wife, Gu Kailai.

Li Dongshen was also the master mind of the fake “self-immolation” in Tiananmen Square ,January 23, 2001.
